Advanced Secure Technologies are a Cardiff based company that helps protect organisations from document fraud. They aim to create a safer business environment for their customers and reduce the risk of fraudulent attack. Their key markets include the legal, financial and education sectors.

Due to market growth, they are looking for an experienced business analyst to provide business process requirements analysis to support the Head of Product Development in the development and improvement of high-quality products (including software applications) for delivery to customers. The Business Analyst will perform an essential function in capturing business requirements and assisting with shaping products and product direction. The role is predominantly internally based within the business, but with some requirement to provide analysis to customers of the business.

Suitable for an experienced mid-to-senior level Business Analyst, the significance of this role within the business should not be understated. The Business Analyst will have the opportunity to assist in development and shaping of the products of the business, which is a key strategic aim. They are therefore looking for an individual with the desire to grow with the business and take on increasing levels of responsibility within the product development process.

Main Duties Include;

  • Input into project initiation (alongside Head of Product Development), drafting high level requirements, undertaking SWOT analysis of new product initiatives.
  • The role will be responsible for gathering, documenting and negotiating requirements for development of the products of the business.
  • The role will be required to undertake process analysis, produce process diagrams and advise on process improvements.
  • The role will select and utilise appropriate methods to undertake analysis and to record analysis decisions. Methods such as workshops, interviews, surveys
  • Whilst the role will not be directly responsible for solution design, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to understand technical concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff. Using techniques such as wire-framing, prototyping and solutions modelling.
  • Conducting reviews of existing products. Generating, documenting and prioritising improvement proposals.
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders (Directors), managers, technical and customer service employees to elicit requirements. Involved in decision-making process, feeding information into the business for improving products and internal business processes, and moving towards proposing and taking business and product shaping decisions.
  • Leading requirements and process meetings and workshops with customers. Responsible for communication with customers on product related matters. Conducting customer surveys in relation to product ideas, initiatives.
  • Producing high quality requirements documentation, including use of systems to document, track and update requirements.
  • Assisting the Head of Product Development in managing all aspects of the product development lifecycle. Maintaining Epics, Features, User Stories

Skills and Competencies;

  • Business analysis experience / competence
  • A strong technical understanding, with an ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • It is essential to the role to produce accurate, concise and well-structured documentation
  • Experience of managing defects, severity / priority.
  • Experience of data analysis / data modelling / relational data models would be highly advantageous.
  • Use of systems to document / track requirements and development
  • Knowledge of SDLC
  • PRINCE2 / Agile project management qualifications
  • Degree Level Education
  • ISEB Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent.
