My client in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Finance Assistant to work within their Tax and Trust team.

Ideally seeking a candidate with some experince within personal tax and AAT or similar.

The role is to undertake and advise on personal tax returns. Working closely with the large and expanding Court of Protection team to ensure delivery of tax returns as instructed by the deputy on behalf of the clients.

Skills Required

Diploma in personal taxation or equivalent qualification is preferred or work experience.
Experience in personal taxation, to include CGT and Income Tax is preferred
IT literate – Sound working knowledge of Microsoft office, Word and Excel
Flexible approach to work
Good planning, organisation and time management

Duties will include:-

Personal Tax Compliance
Timely completion of personal tax returns and dealing with HMRC
Liaising with clients to request and collate information to prepare annual tax returns.
Preparation of supporting schedules noting gross income sources and tax deducted at source.
Drafting personal tax returns on PTP tax software and submission of returns to signatory
Filing online with HMRC
Capital Gains Tax advice & calculations
Maintenance of CGT records re investment histories
Assisting colleagues with Personal Representatives income tax and capital gains tax compliance and completion of deceased’s lifetime tax compliance to the date of death during the administration of Estates
Requesting payments on account throughout the year as required
Organising payments of tax to HMRC
Maintaining and updating the central tax records
