White Horse are proud to be working alongside a leading sporting governing body who after nearly 100 years of being established, are now beginning their new 5 year strategy of growth. The successful Finance Officer will have responsibility for the financial information and analysis; budgeting and forecasting; and reporting across the organisation, as well as supporting budget holders with various projects. We are seeking a diligent, experienced, and immersive applicant to drive forward their finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly P&L and balance sheet after posting all relevant journals.
  • Hold monthly Budget meetings with all Budget holders, supporting procurement, targets and good financial management.
  • You will identify cost benefits and payback, and drive value by influencing decisions to ensure all activity is aligned to the business strategy.
  • Produce quarterly forecasts and yearly budget breakdowns by liaising with Budget holders, Financial Director and CEO.
  • Monitor all yearly renewal payments and large tenders.
  • Ensure financial statements are ready to be included for Board and annual statements.
  • Oversee records for audit purposes and assist in yearend Audit with external auditors.
  • Process and code all payments through XERO, making payments and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Raise invoices and reconcile all funding streams.
  • Ensure that PGB finance policies and procedures are regularly updated.
  • Provide financial support for projects if required.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications Required:


  • Competent IT user with knowledge of all Microsoft package and online accounting software.
  • Experience in managing payroll accounting (note payroll payments are managed externally).
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proven record in delivering in a high-performance environment.
  • Flexible work attitude with the ability to meet the needs of the business as and when required.
  • Pragmatic and calm approach to problem solving.


  • Professional Accountancy qualification either fully or part-qualified ACA, ACCA CIMA.
  • Experience/ involvement in preparing board reports.
  • Skilled at developing and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Olympic sports.
  • Experience working with NGBs, NOCs and International Federations.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary support team.
